Summit --First Time Attendee with Questions

    If I'm not attending any Academy Sessions, is there anything of value that I should attend on Monday for a general Summit Attendee (ex -welcome expo for academy and/or partners)?

    Is the breakfast every morning complimentary with our registration?

    What is the daily reception in the evening?

    Thank you!!

    @Billie Moore,

    All the meals are included in your Summit registration fee, breakfast and lunch.

    As far as the Expo Reception, the first one on Monday is open to all Summit attendees. It will have lots of food + a bar. Your registration includes, I believe, four drink tickets. After you guzzle those, it's a cash bar! The food is plentiful and varied... don't carry too many personal articles with you! There are places to set down plates and cups and stand while you eat, but not a whole lot of those.

    The value of the Monday Welcome Reception lies in the networking and getting into the swing of Summit. It's where you can find out about the vendor and Partner parties the rest of the week. There are several events each evening Tuesday and Wednesday. The Welcome Reception is where you find out which ones to attend. Whether that's worth the extra night in the hotel is something that is perhaps better answered after you've been to one!

    I'm not sure about the Expo Reception on Tuesday evening. That is, whether it's a full-bore food & drinks type thing. Maybe someone from GPUG Corporate will chime in here regarding that event.

    There is no Reception on either Wednesday or Thursday. The expo hall is open for a large part of the day and into the evening every day. Lots of people spend time in the expo hall. Great place to learn what's available for GP in the realm of add-on products and services.

    Thanks @Steve Erbach for chiming in - great suggestions! I'm excited to hear this will be your first GPUG Summit  @Billie Moore - and happy to give some thoughts as well.

    Regarding Monday - if you are not registered for Academy classes, as Steve mentioned, there will be fun meet and greet receptions:
    4:00-5:00 - New Attendee Reception. There will be an email sent out to new end users attending Summit for the first time to meet the Board Chair, other first timers and Dynamic Communities staff members. There will be refreshments/snacks available and pointers will be shared on how to maximize your time while at Summit and how to begin your conference journey on the right foot.
    5:00-8:00 - Welcome Reception in the Expo: Heavy appetizers, bar will be enjoyed while you visit the exhibits and connect with others. You can make a meal out of the food offered at the stations, or have plans with others for dinner afterwards.

    Breakfast and lunch will be on your own for Monday, but beginning Tuesday all Summit attendees will enjoy complimentary breakfast (continental options as well as a hot protein choice) hot buffet lunch and morning/afternoon snacks. There will be a reception on Tuesday evening from 5:00-7:30 PM in the Expo similar to the set up of Monday's  Welcome reception (bar/heavy appetizers).

    If you want to enjoy some free time on Monday and check out local sights and events- I would suggest heading to the Visit Phoenix website for some cool things to do while in the area.

    Looking forward to seeing you at GPUG Summit!

    Thank you for the clarification, @Ginny Lebeck! I'm happy to hear that there are two Expo receptions... although the Tuesday evening reception will undoubtedly compete with the vendor bashes!

    Fastpath users may want to attend the Fastpath user group event Monday afternoon.  You can register on their web site.

    Steve gave a pretty good recap, but he missed one thing which in my mind is as good as all the classes combined: Dinner with Peers.  This is usually Wednesday or Thursday night and is basically a small group of people with the same interests who have dinner together and discuss things.  It's a great place to bring up a question specific to your business and solicit suggestions from other users who have either done the same things or have the same question.  Don't miss this opportunity!

    @Blair Christensen,

    The official word:
    ...we are not organizing the Dinner with Peers this year, and encourage attendees to reach out to others to organize this if you are interested in doing so.
    That's from Ginny Lebeck at GPUG. The Wisconsin Chapters are organizing a CheeseHead Dinner using the Chapter Event capability.

    Can I just say 1000+ thumbs down to that decision.  That is by far my favorite event and the most valuable to me at the entire convention.  I hope that GPUG reverses course next year.
